The Asian Paradise Flycatcher is an incredibly beautiful and elegant bird that inhabits various regions of Asia, spanning from India to Japan. One of their most distinguishing features are their lengthy and flowing tail feathers, which can extend up to twice the length of their body and trail gracefully behind them as they take flight.
The Asian Paradise Flycatchers have a unique look, featuring a light-colored body and dark blue or black wings and tail. When it’s time to mate, the male flycatchers change their appearance, showcasing a beautiful chestnut or rufous plumage that is designed to woo the females.
The Asian Paradise Flycatchers have a diet consisting of insects like flies, beetles, and butterflies. They are also fond of fruit and nectar. These birds migrate to cover long distances between their wintering and breeding grounds. They are very protective of their feeding and nesting areas and will fight other birds to keep them away.
Regrettably, the number of these species has been dwindling because of factors such as the degradation and loss of their natural environment, as well as their capture for the purpose of the pet trade.
