The steller’s jay is also recognized as the mountain jay, pine jay, and long-crested jay. This bird is closely related to the blue jay, which occasionally results in it being called a blue jay.
The Steller’s jay is quite similar in looks to the blue jay and also boasts of a crest on its head.
The underside and main body of the creature exhibit a deep shade of blue resembling navy, while its top is completely black.
The circular wings of the bird have black patterns, but there are no white markings like those seen on blue jays. The bird’s size is similar to that of blue jays and both have round tails.
Steller’s jays and blue jays not only inhabit similar environments, but they also share physical features. This often leads to interbreeding between the two bird species.
The steller’s jay is fond of residing in large forests, much like the blue jay, and can frequently be spotted in Western North America as well as the mountainous regions of Central America.
